Greek Olive Branch

The olive tree (ελιά, elia) is Greece's most sacred plant, given to Athens by the goddess Athena in her contest with Poseidon for the city's patronage. She struck the Acropolis rock and an olive tree burst from the stone — offering humanity not power over the sea but the gifts of food, light, and medicine.
